Lunge Sprint
What you'll gain
Loads the front quad and glute in a split that looks like a sprint start.
Opposite-arm drive ties the upper body to the lunge without extra load.
Needs no equipment, so it fits field warm-ups and app athletic blocks.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- 1
Stand tall, then step into a long split so the front thigh is near parallel.
- 2
Keep the back knee close to the floor and the front shin fairly vertical.
- 3
Set the opposite arm forward and the same-side arm back, as in a sprint.
- 4
Brace the trunk so the hips stay square and the torso does not collapse.
- 5
Pulse the split by driving the front foot into the floor and returning to the same stance.
- 6
Finish the reps on that leg, then switch the split and the arm drive.
Common Mistakes
Letting the front knee collapse inward under the sprint arm drive.
Bouncing so high that the back foot leaves and the drill becomes a jump switch.
Leaning the torso onto the front thigh instead of staying tall.
Shortening the split until the back knee cannot drop.
About This Exercise
The lunge sprint in this clip is a same-stance athletic lunge, not a jumping switch. The mannequin stays in a forward split with the front thigh near parallel, the back knee hovering, and the arms in a running drive: opposite arm forward, same-side arm back. The loop pulses that stance rather than exchanging legs in the air. A standard forward lunge already trains the quads, glutes, and hamstrings with no equipment; the sprint arms add the posture athletes use out of the blocks without turning the clip into a plyometric jump lunge. For a catalog this is a coaching clip for acceleration posture. App builders can drop it into speed warm-ups, lunge filters, and athletic templates that need a split stance with arm drive rather than a traveling walking lunge.
