Seated Wrist Flexor Stretch
What you'll gain
Lengthens the wrist flexors after typing, gripping, or carrying.
Uses palm-to-palm pressure so the extra stretch is easy to dose.
Needs only a chair, so it fits a desk break.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- 1
Sit tall on a chair with both feet planted and the shoulders level.
- 2
Straighten one arm forward with the palm facing up and the elbow locked.
- 3
Extend that wrist so the fingers hang toward the floor.
- 4
Press the other palm flat against the working palm, not around the fingers.
- 5
Gently add extension until you feel a stretch along the underside of the forearm.
- 6
Hold, then release and switch arms, keeping the working elbow straight.
Common Mistakes
Grabbing the working fingers instead of pressing palm to palm.
Bending the working elbow, which unloads the flexor stretch.
Forcing the wrist into a painful end range rather than a mild stretch.
Confusing this with the palm-down extensor stretch and stretching the wrong side of the forearm.
About This Exercise
The seated wrist flexor stretch lengthens the muscles on the palm side of the forearm. Sit tall, straighten the working arm, and turn the palm up. Extend the wrist so the fingers hang down, then press the helping palm into the working palm to add a gentle extra extension. This is palm-to-palm pressure, not a handshake and not a finger yank. The stretch should be felt along the underside of the forearm toward the inner elbow. For a catalog this is the pair to the extensor stretch. The seated view shows the supinated working arm and the helping palm on the working palm, which is the contact the approved animation actually uses.
